Tim Friary- Farmer
I grew up in Taunton, Massachusetts. My fondest memories of childhood revolved around my maternal grandparents' small, sustainable farm. I remember the excitement of lambs being born when I was quite young, and the first tomatoes of the season. I loved the smell, taste, and texture of the first fruits. Those are very pleasant memories.
I have always loved growing things, and it evolved eventually into farming. In 1996, I started organic farming for a livelihood on Commerce Road in Barnstable. I remember a lot of hard work but enjoyable times.
Farming gave me the opportunity to have my children work and participate in farm activities. I believe that it tended to their growth as good young adults. Sara, my oldest, lives in Boston and helps with sales and office work when she is home. Travis, my son, works on the farm with the rearing of the livestock. Ema, a recent graduate from St. Andrews in Scotland, grew up working in the fields and helping me in the summer at the farmers market.
I love what I do, and I love the people I do it with.
